Paddle Boarding at Lake Ngatu with SUP Bros - Scotty and Jo

Paddle Boarding with Scotty and Jo from SUP BROs was fantastic. Our class had the best time with over at Lake Ngatu with Te Tinana. The students took turns in their groups to negotiate the giant paddle boards around Lake Ngatu and were well and truly rewarded with a beautiful outlook from a different lake perspective. The students were challenged physically when they were paddling into the wind and it was great to see the resilience and perseverance shown (not one complaint!) There was a paddle wobble comp and lots of sweet bombs off the boards! Lots of laughs, lots of fun, we want to do it all over again! Come back soon Scotty and Jo!

Te Whare Tui Camp 2019 - 11th November to 13th November

Te Whare Tui's camp was an absolute delight from beginning to end. We had 43 Year 3 and 4 students who came to school on Monday full of excitement and ready to go. 

The students took part in a heap of wet action activity on Day 1 with the 80m water slide and 20 kayaks in full use. We were lucky to get a weather break and enjoyed some chilled out time at the beach before heading back to the camp for a delicious dinner.

Day 2 offered better weather and the students were able to use the obstacle course, slippy hockey, water slide and kayaks on 2 great big fun rotations. We sure had a lot of tired but happy kids that night!! 

Day 3 was clean up and move out, but not before heading down to beautiful Coopers Beach for some sand fun, Capture the Flag and a sand sculpting competition then back to school for a sausage sizzle and a surprise scoop of hot chips from the Craig whanau.

Our students were a credit to themselves and their whanau, they were an absolute pleasure to have on camp. We were very lucky to have such a wonderful whanau group who made the camp a positive experience for all our students. Our Coopers Beach Camp was a huge success thanks to our wonderful campers and supportive parents. 

Finally a huge thanks to Krystal Rose and Kiran who were our 'Kitchen Queens' who made the kitchen run smoothly and fed us all delicious meals. Thank you to Yvette and Jada for supporting the staff and students as they always do and Mrs Stevenson who helped make it all happen. You all ROCK!!!!!! 

Te Hiku Manaiakalani Outreach 2 First Movie Festival

This year has been our first Te Hiku Movie Festival, the movies have been played on the big screen at the Te Ahu Cinema in Kaitaia on Thursday 7 November. This is one of the lucky movies to be chosen from our school. Congratulations to everyone involved in the production of this movie. Mum's School - Short Film by Te Manga

Introducing the cast of Te Manga's first ever short film called Mum's School.

Mum's School is about a young boy named Kahu who is starting a new school. He thinks his school is going to be a dump, with grumpy teachers and students who are bullies but he is in for a nice surprise. 

Introducing Zav as Kahu, Arahia as Nan, Anahera as Whaea Rewa, Liv as Mrs King and the Te Manga kids as the bullies and the nice kids!!!

This short film is going to be part of the Te Hiku Manaiakalani Film Festival at Te Ahu on Thursday 7th November and some of our kids are going to get to go - yayyyyyyyyyyy!

Free Writing Friday

Every Friday the students take part in 'Free Writing Friday' which is the time of the week when the students can write about anything that they like. They are motivated and engaged in this type of writing as having choice can make a huge difference to engagement levels.

Duffy Theatre - Magic Bricks

Duffy is so excited to stay with his cousin Sam for the school holidays but when he gets there he is so disappointed. Sam is addicted to gaming and doesn't want to spend time with Duffy! When Duffy puts on his nana's glasses and does the 'dumpling' things get a little crazy!

We were so lucky to have a visit from Duffy Theatre today. The show was performed with so much enthusiasm and energy. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the message that was delivered. Read for enjoyment, read to succeed, read, read, READ!!!

Rugby World Cup 2019

In Te Manga, we have been learning about the Rugby World Cup. Each of the students have a team to follow and support. The students have been learning all sorts of interesting information and facts about the history of the RWC and about their adopted country.

Yesterday we had a RWC dress up at school and our class were definitely the most colourful class. Some of the students dressed up in their countries colours and others dressed up in support of the All Blacks. Whaea Deb and Riley dressed up as the host nations Japan.
