EOTC Activity - Day 1 - Forestry Walk to Lake Ngatu

We had a fantastic start to our EOTC activities today at Lake Ngatu. We walked from 90 Mile Beach through the forestry to the Lake which took about an hour, the students were great (only a few complaints near the end). They certainly appreciated the lake and their lunch boxes when we got there. There was lots of swimming, chilling and eating! Our day ended with a special ice block treat from Margy Job which was absolutely lovely and just what we needed before walking back to school.

Thank you to all the whanau who took time to come and support us on the day. We appreciate you all!

Lake Ngatu - Arbor Day Planting

Lake Ngatu is a taonga in our community and we are kaitiaki of this roto. Today our whole school helped to plant a varierty of trees and plants at Lake Ngatu, 1600 in total. We were supported by lots of our whanau; parents, older siblings and grandparents too and were rewarded with a yummy sausage sizzle before we headed back to school. Thank you so much to everybody who helped out today, we had a fantastic day!

Paddle Boarding Fun

Yesterday we went paddle boarding at Lake Ngatu with Sup Bro legends Scotty and Jo and the kids from Te Kauru and Te Puawai.

It was a fantastic chance to get out of our classroom and enjoy walking to Lake Ngatu on such a beautiful day. Our whole class fit onto two boards. Scotty and Jo talked to the class about water safety and what they would be doing once they got out on the lake. On the way out into the middle of the lake the students paddled and sung waiata - ataahua! Then the students were able to bomb off the boards in the middle of the lake, what an experience.

Our class had a great day, thank you to our whanau who came along, Te Kauru, Te Puawai and of course Sup Bro legends - Scotty and Jo - https://www.supbrotours.co.nz/
