Term 2 - Te Manga - Proud and Passionate Leaders of Learning in the Heart of the Community

The students in Te Manga have been super busy since the beginning of Term 2 started.  They have impressed me with the learning that they are doing at home.It has been great to keep in touch at our hangouts each day and the students are using our google hangout timetable for whole class catch ups and group sessions really well.

During our whole class catch up today we had lots of people who were keen to share what they had been doing at home. Not everyone chose to share today which is fine, hopefully they might want to share next time.

Today Tuva shared some photo's of her making - Kolakako or Swedish fudge cake with her mum. They looked delicious. We hope she will share the recipe on her blog.

Larell talked about all the learning he has been doing about ANZAC Day. He found out that there were WW1 mascots like dogs, horses, bird, cats, rats and even donkeys. He made an ANZAC poppy and shared his learning on his blog

Kaydee watched a science experiment on
our class site and did the egg and vinegar experiment. That one didn't work but then Kaydee and her dad did one with baking soda and vinegar outside and it exploded all over her dog.

Jamie has been adventuring around his farm picking mushrooms and trying to avoid stepping on spiky bushes.

Mihi's mum made her and Anahera some bats. She put them on a rope  and when you pull the strings it moves. She said her sister keeps beating her!

Edmon shared  his science experiment that he did with his dad. It was all about surface tension, he explained it really well. We all thought it was very interesting and you can find out more about his experiment by clicking on his blog here.

Millan told us that he has been helping do jobs at home like the rubbish, recycling and helping his nan. He's also been getting a lot of math done too! He
also told us that it's his little sisters birthday tomorrow, she is turning 1!

Carrie talked about the reading she has been doing, how she has been working out her technology and she also helped make a delicious brownie too.

Kaiora made snow at home! We couldn't believe it but he told us he used baking soda, water and salt. He was able to make snow at the beach! How cool is that!

Katarina told us that she made the most delicious cheese scones. She felt so proud of herself because they're using hard rocks. Well done
Katarina.

Yvette has been busy working with her boys, she even did one of their PE activities with them; as many burpees as you can in 5 minutes. Way to go Yvette.
We were really happy to see Sir this morning too. He has been very busy having meetings with lots of principals and teachers. He was very happy because Mrs Windleborn made him banana muffins and they
were delicious. Lucky Sir!!!

I told everyone that I have been enjoying catching up with everyone each day. I have also loved all the mushrooms that are growing around where we live. We have been mushroom picking and I love mushrooms. I could eat mushrooms for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

We have been at home for 4 weeks now but it has not stopped the enthusiasm that our class has for learning and the enjoyment we all get from catching up with each other!
