Thank You Whaea Seroya

Today was Whaea Seroya's last day in Te Manga. She has been with us for the past 10 weeks (even through lock down) and has been doing her 'full control' part of her practicum for the past 3 weeks. Whaea Seroya has ben a fabulous teacher in Te Manga and we will all miss her very much!

We thanked her for her time spent in Te Manga. The students had a chance to do a korero for Whaea Seroya. We wished her the best of luck for the rest of her studies and for a very successful teaching career.

Te Manga Speech Finals

The students in Te Manga have performed wonderful speeches over the past two weeks. Whaea Seroya and I have been impressed with the calibre of the speeches and the effort that has gone into learning them.

We had our speech final yesterday, judged by Sir, Mrs Windleborn and Mrs Radich. They were all very impressed with what they heard! Jesse was away on the finals day, but he also made it to the speech finals.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

A couple of weeks ago for te wiki o te reo Māori we did a range of activities, these included: 

• Kupu o te rā  
• Wharewhare Kēmu 
• Wheku Mask 
• Māori Kahoots 

The class enjoyed learning new words each day, playing wharewhare every afternoon, testing their knowledge with a kahoot at the start and end of the week, as well as learning and having a chance to create their own wheku mask.

Math Home Learning

Our math learning looks a little different when we are learning from home but it is still happening. 

The students have been busy working on Mathletics, Math Buddy, Prodigy, Math Choices and their Math Google Slides, which are taking the place of the orange math books in class. 

Today a few of the students played a basic facts games using dice online. The students could choose how many dice they wanted to use and were great at challenging themselves.

Daniel, Jesse and Jackson's dad taught them a math game at home.  They made a video to share the game with the class.
