Cross Country

Today we ventured down the road to Johnny Jones farm to run our school cross country. Our Zone cross country was cancelled due to Covid-19 but our cross country training continued and it was great to see everyone giving it their very best on the day. Our class ran in the 7 and 8 year old races and did so well! Sir even organised a sausage sizzle and ice block for everyone when we got back to school. It was another awesome day out in the community. Thank you to all our parents who came to support, it was great to have you all there!!!

Soccer with James Coleman

We were so excited to see James setting up his soccer equipment this morning! Our class absolutely love taking part in soccer sessions with James and today he showed us even more fun drills and skills with a soccer ball.

James had a great time too and sent us a special message; Paparore School has always been a place I have loved visiting . The teachers are engaging and encouraging to their students . John , you have always made the effort to come over and say hello , and the kids are just beautiful . Happy , engaging and full of life .Thank you all for a fantastic day .

Thank you for your kind words James, we can hardly wait until you come back next time!

End of Term Fun - Science

The student's worked hard this term and we were all looking forward to the last week of term where we had lots of fun activities to look forward too. Today we were so excited to do some science experiments!

Edmon did lots of science with his whanau over the lockdown and shared his experiences with the class online and on his blog. Edmon's dad organised resources and activities for our class to use. He even brought everyone safety glasses to use. Unfortunately he wasn't able to come into class this term but we look forward to him coming in to teach us in Term 4.

Edmon was able to demonstrate one of the experiments and then the students had the chance to do their own. Today we were learning about, 'Amazing Water'. Edmon explained to the class what we would be doing and everyone had a look on our class site to have an idea of what to expect.

There was a lot of science enthusiasm and oooohhhhhing and aaaaahing during the experiment. The students had a fantastic time and learnt that water is truly amazing.

Thank you so much to Edmon and his dad Nico for organising this for our class. You can see that we really appreciated it!

Thanks Nico and Edmon!!!!

Keep NZ Beautiful Month - Kaitiaki of Lake Ngatu

We are kaitiaki of Lake Ngatu and as part of 'Keep NZ Beautiful Month', we had the opportunity to plant trees at the lake with DOC and Ngati Kahu plus we did a lake clean up, while we were there.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in Term 3, we had not been on any trips outside of school. We all absolutely loved being out and about, contributing positively to our community. It was our chance to live our school values of Kaitiakitanga (Caring for the Environment) and Porihanga (Community and Partnership).

The students learnt about the native plants and how to plant a tree correctly. We had a fabulous day out!

A huge thank you to Larell's mum Kyla for coming to help us out on the day!
